Students who must take an exam at a time other than the scheduled time but within the examination period must do the following:

  1. Submit a Request to Reschedule Final Exam Form to the Student Development Office.  Forms are available online and in the rack outside the Student Development Office located in Machen.
  2. Secure initial approval of the Dean of Students, then the approval of the professor.
  3. Deadline: Approvals must be secured at least one week prior to the beginning of the exam period.

**All examinations must be completed by the last day of the exam period OR an Incomplete must be requested from the Registrar’s Office. (See Catalog Section 5.2.2.f)**

Students must abide by the institutional honor code policy during examinations and sign the following pledge:  I pledge my honor that I have neither given nor received any assistance--verbal, written, or electronic---on this examination beyond that specifically permitted by the instructor in charge.

In its discussions related to the Honor System in the spring of 1993 the faculty decided to change its policy with regard to allowing extra time on final examinations for students whose native language is not English. Instead of allowing extra time for such students, professors would seek to compensate for language difficulty in other ways that would be appropriate for their particular courses.  Students with questions about this policy should see their individual professors or the Provost or the Dean of Students.

Rescheduling Exams
Under certain circumstances, the Academic Affairs and Student Development Offices allow students to reschedule their final exam(s) to be taken during alternative time slots. Click here to download the required form. Requests must receive approval from both Student Development and the professor, in that order. Please be aware that not all requests are approved, so make every effort to work out your conflict prior to completing this form.
