2015 Westminster Conference on Science and Faith

Bill Nye the “Science Guy” claims that humans are “insignificant” specks living on a planet that orbits “an unremarkable star,” while astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, host of the 2014 Cosmos TV series, describes God as “an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance.” But are humans really the insignificant products of a blind cosmos that did not have them in mind? Is belief in God the enemy of scientific progress? What is the true nature of scientific inquiry and its relationship to faith? Explore these questions and more at the sixth annual Westminster Conference on Science and Faith on March 20-21, 2015 in the greater Philadelphia area. This year’s theme is “Cosmos and Creator” and features renowned Oxford University mathematics professor John Lennox and Discovery Institute geneticist Michael Denton.

Sometimes referred to as today’s C.S. Lewis, Dr. Lennox has debated prominent “New Atheists” including Richard Dawkins and is author of books such as God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?, God and Stephen Hawking, and Gunning for God. Biologist Michael Denton is author of Evolution: A Theory in Crisis and Nature’s Destiny, and is featured in the new documentary Privileged Species.

This conference is co-hosted by Westminster Theological Seminary, Discovery Institute’s Center for Science & Culture (CSC), and the Pensmore Foundation. Additional speakers include Westminster Theological Seminary theologian Dr. Vern Poythress, author of Redeeming Science; CSC Associate Director Dr. John G. West, author of Darwin Day in America; CSC Research Coordinator Casey Luskin, co-author of Science and Human Origins and the Discovering Intelligent Design curriculum; Westminster Theological Seminary theologian Dr. Scott Oliphint, author of Reasons for Faith; and attorney Douglas Ell, author of Counting to God: A Personal Journey through Science to Belief.
