Hazel Sinclair with the Lord

December 03, 2013

March 24, 1923 - November 26, 2013

Hazel E. Hetzer Sinclair, friend of the seminary and wife of late board member George Sinclair, died on Tuesday, November 26 of this year. She was 90. She and her husband were instrumental in helping students attend Westminster with the establishment of the George Sinclair Scholarship.

Jason Peterson, development manager, and 2007 Sinclair Scholar, says this, "Shortly before her death, her daughter Carolyn called us to let us know how much the current round of thank you letters from the scholarship students brightened Hazel’s day. Certainly, we’ve all been blessed by her generosity."

Please join the Westminster community as we mourn the loss of this sister in Christ.

From the Obituary:

Hazel E. Hetzer Sinclair, born March 24, 1923, in Philadelphia, PA, was the wife of the late George D. Sinclair for 58 years. George and Hazel made their family home in Drexel Hill, PA, where they raised their two children, David and Carolyn. Hazel dedicated her life to providing a comfortable home for her family yet made time to offer her talents elsewhere. She volunteered in the gift shop of Delaware County Memorial Hospital for over 40 years. Additionally, she offered her services to their home church as a Sunday School teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, and a member of the choir.

Hazel was the active and loving grandmother of Nicholas and Christine Sinclair. Recently, she became the very proud great-grandmother of Jacob and Francesca Sinclair.

Hazel is survived by her brother, Frank Hetzer; sister, Emma Hendricks; daughter, Carolyn Sinclair; grandchildren, Nicholas and Christine Sinclair; and great grandchildren, Jacob and Francesca Sinclair. She leaves behind many loving and devoted friends, as well.

In life, Hazel was known for her quick wit, generous heart, and loving spirit. She deeply affected and positively influenced those with whom she came in contact. Those who love her mourn her death but greatly rejoice in her new life.
