Science and Faith

Is there evidence of intelligent design in nature? Is the evidence scientifically robust? Why does it matter whether the universe shows evidence of design? Explore these questions and more at the fifth annual Westminster Conference on Science and Faith on April 11-12, 2014 at Covenant Fellowship Church in the greater Philadelphia area. This year’s theme is “Science and Design” and features speakers such as biochemist Michael Behe and mathematician and philosopher William Dembski, both prominent intelligent design advocates, as well as other distinguished scholars.

Dr. Michael Behe is Professor of Biological Science at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and Senior Fellow at Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture. Dr. Behe’s research explores the limits of natural selection. His first book, Darwin’s Black Box, explains how “irreducibly complex” biochemical systems pose a serious problem for Darwinian evolution, a concept that has garnered international attention. Dr. William Dembski is also a Senior Fellow of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture and has published numerous articles in mathematics, philosophy, and theology journals, and has authored or contributed to over twenty books including The Design Inference and The Nature of Nature.

Additional speakers include Westminster Theological Seminary theologian Dr. Vern Poythress, author of Redeeming Science; molecular biologist Dr. Douglas Axe, co-author of Science and Human Origins and Director of the Biologic Institute; Discovery Institute Senior Fellow Dr. John G. West, editor of The Magician’s Twin: C.S. Lewis on Science, Scientism, and Society; and Discovery Institute Research Coordinator Casey Luskin, co-author of the homeschool curriculum Discovering Intelligent Design.
