Alumnus Dr. Leggett Passed Away

Dr. Donald Leggett, WTS ThM 1960 and professor emeritus of Old Testament at Tyndale University College & Seminary, passed away on Saturday March 27 while visiting family in Texas.
Dr. Leggett's teaching career spanned more than 40 years. He was an esteemed and beloved professor whose influence on thousands of students cannot be measured but known to God. Alum from across the years, and around the globe, would name him as a person of singular spiritual influence on their lives and ministries.
"I had the privilege of serving on the faculty at Tyndale Seminary with Don Leggett for ten years. He was a kind and good humored colleague.
"I also had the privilege of taking several classes with him. He was a godly man who thought first about how his teaching would impact his students. He was an inspiring teacher who could make the most difficult passages in the Old Testament live for his students. One of my lasting memories of him will be seeing him perched on a stool explaining the structure of the book of Psalms and students listening attentively. One of his passions was preaching from the Old Testament and this is reflected in his book, Loving God and Disturbing Men: Preaching from the Prophets. Don understood that biblical studies in never an end in itself and that it must be done in the service of the church.
"Don is an excellent example of someone who took what is taught at Westminster and put it into practice. He had a massive impact on the evangelical church in Canada and further afield as he was a frequent visitor to seminaries around the world. He was also a dedicated local pastor who was able to take the fruits of scholarship and use them for the benefit of the local church."

Visitation will take place on Friday April 16 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Village Green Community Church.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday April 17 at 7:00 pm at Village Green Community Church in London, ON. This service is open to all who desire to attend.

A Tribute Service in memory of Dr. Leggett will be held at Tyndale on Friday April 30 at 2:00 pm in the Van Norman Worship Centre. A light reception will follow the service.
