Alumnus Rev. Kuschke with the Lord

Alumnus and former librarian Rev. Arthur Kuschke died on July 1, 2010. He was 96 years old.


Rev. Kuschke graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Theology in 1939 and a Master of Theology in 1940. Upon Graduation, Mr. Kuschke served the seminary as Assistant to the Field Secretary from 1940 to 1944. In 1947, he was elected Librarian of the Seminary and held that position until his retirement in 1979.

"Mr. Kuschke built an outstanding library collection here which has served as the foundation for our present collection. Also, he designed and oversaw the construction of the present library building which has served the Seminary very well for more than forty years. Finally, Mr. Kuschke played an important role in the development of the library's rare book collections. He was actively involved in purchasing and soliciting donations for the collection and also designed the Rare Book Room where the collection is housed."

Rev. Kuschke was an ordained minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. He served the denomination faithfully and well on denominational committees and as a member of its Philadelphia Presbytery. He was a member of the committee that produced the Trinity Hymnal for the denomination.

The memorial service will be held on July 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 734 East Willow Grove Avenue, Glenside, PA 19038. Friends are cordially invited to attend.
